Conway Update 15 RELEASE

Hey everyone. Update 15 is upon us. So grab some hot chocolate/tea/coffee and enjoy those cold days with us!

As always, of course, thank you so much for your support, particularly to our supporters on Patreon and subscribestar.
Without your contributions this Update wouldn't have been possible, and I hope that you all will enjoy this latest version of Conway! :)
If you encounter any Bugs/Typos/Whatever, please let me know, so that I can sort them out. :)

Alrighty, what's new then? let's get into it because we've got a pretty decent list of things!

Story Updates:

  • Alternative paths to get your grubby paws on some alcohol have been added.
  • The dinner scene on Day 1 with Wolf has undergone an overhaul as we continue to polish up the day 1 section.
  • Plenty of connective tissue writing has been done to (hopefully) make sure all paths connect correctly and smoothly.
  • Added variations to Wolf's jolly boat scene to account for the different types of alcohol you can now bring to him.
  • Scene to convince Arthur has been added
  • A new Rajeeyah scene has been added on the stay path as well.

Art Updates:

  • Added 2 new Tail Animations ( Samuel & Julian )
  • Added new Fan Art Pieces
  • Arthur's sprite got a little update. Doesn't actually change anything, since his junk hasn't been in the game yet, but it's finally got adjusted for his v2 sprite. Yay.

Other Updates/Fixes/Adjustments:

  • Added a Family/Last Name. You will be asked to please pick one when you will load into your save. So going forward the family name will usually be used when characters address you formally. James' full name is now James Kelly (decided by Navigator Patrons).
  • Entering the cheat code no longer requires a new game for it to activate.
  • Changed the text on the passage of time screens. Now they display the exact date rather than just "Day X."
  • A hover highlight has been added for the Maritime Menagerie & Fanart Gallery.
  • Adjusted the text colors for the different character names and text.
  • Minor adjustment to the font. Now "f" and " ' " should not be merging into one anymore if they're right after one another.
  • The way text appears has been adjusted slightly to appear a bit smoother.
  • Other Minor fixes to previous text. (Typos, small refinements etc.)

And of course it would be amiss of me not to mention that if you want to be one of the cool supporters making this all possible in the first place, then you can do so over on either Patreon or Subscribestar.

Wolf, my most cherished Conway crew mate, how cruel fate is to us... to relive the prior pain with wine, but now with rum... At least we got to reread Day 1 supper with you. Also, dang, there's a lot of places for Raj 'bad ends' for lack of a better phrase. I mean, not hard to avoid, but the balls on MC is absolutely absurd when you look at some of the choices you can make with her. Or the blackmailing option with Arthur. Wild stuff for sure.

Glad we finally got to see the pay off with being able to convince Arthur to let us stay.

Typos time: "With one hand you hold the bottle of wine, hastily covered by your shirt ..." I brought rum, not wine after seeing Perce

"You fish for the buttons of your shirt and open two of them - just enough for you to guide the bottle of wine through." wine ref again

"You don't strike me as someone who would be prepared enough to bring something along for you can trade." Messy end - easiest to just swap 'can' for 'to'

"I just thought it would be nice to share some wine with you when ..." Wine ref

Somewhat confused by a certain sequence, you can obtain the rum and not be able to bring it with you on the first go around (too nervous, which is understandable I suppose), but also not bring it with you on the second go around when considerably more desperate with nothing to lose? I think that's more of a writing/characterization choice, but putting it here in case it was a mistake.

"It doesn't matter that much of you don't know one in particular..." 'of' -> 'if'

"I haven't sent a single one of of them." Doubled 'of'

"Anyone would be better than than a confidence man." Double 'than'

Hey hey thank you for the catches! Should all be sorted out come update 16.

And will have a peek at the pathing there as well. Initial thought is that i generally don't want to force people into a certain path, so that's probably why you can still decide against using the booze on the second go. But I'll have to double check to be sure. Hard to really recall every permutation off of the top of my head.

And yeh, if the player can choose then i do want to have some choices that are just out there if someone really wants to go that route. Though yeah, usually preeeeetty well telegraphed since i don't like having some innocuous choice end up suddenly have some character get super mad at you.
But having the option i think is still valuable and fun in a way. :D

Haha, I wasn't complaining about having the options. I do personally feel bad going for some of them because they are just... wow.

But on the other hand, I just can't leave a stone unturned here. I can't deny the curiosity that begs me to look at the obviously wrong answer. I was honestly shocked by the blackmail option and the fact that it didn't get us literally thrown overboard or held in a solitary confinement or something. They are a neat little addition even if you know that nothing good is going to come of going for them.

I've never been one to give VN's a fair and proper chance but the art on conway's page was just stunning so I decided to give it a shot. And holy shit what an experience! The introduction started a bit wordy but once the characters were introduced I was utterly hooked the writing is phenomenal.

My first ending I tried to hard-focus on Arthur which went less than stellar as he hadn't had any content added yet for pleasing him (until now!!!) but going back afterwards felt so rewarding, the little or even major tweaks in dialogue based on all your choices beforehand feel so reactive. Wolf is my favorite character despite how unapologetically stonewalled he is. At first I thought by hard min maxing choices in his favor he'd suddenly drop everything and swoon for me, but I had a sobering experience when he reminded me how realistic the writing could be. Hope in the future there's some key into that dog's head/pants nonetheless :) Keep up the amazing work

Thanks a ton, Amazee! Always such a treat to hear people enjoying their time with :)

Nomax puts out quality I've missed a few updates, time to jump back in.

(+2)

Hah, hope you'll enjoy it :) They've been some really nice updates, i think. In particular with my support writers really finding their stride!

I didn't realise you were still going back into the story to tweek things, is it worth venturing back to see the changes?? o.o

We make sure that nothing of the story or any important events get changed, so it's just more of a prettying up of day 1. Since that was the section that i did for the initial release, without much of a plan of where to take it, and when i was just doing it as a little bit of a project in my month off. I just don't think it holds up and so by now everything but the Rajeeyah & Arthur section have been overhauled.

It's absolutely not needed to go back since as I said, the essence of the scene is still the same, but if you thought that particular scene was one you liked, then it now should be even better! :D

Yippe!!
