Road to release version 2
Hey everyone!
Hope you are having a good whenever you decide to read this.
With March coming to a close I'm slowly turning towards the end of the time I want to invest into the 2nd release version of Conway and so I wanted to talk a little bit about what to expect from it.
Naturally being a solo dev progress will be slower than perhaps some other VN projects that do have the funding to invest in further help, but I also just really love getting to turn knobs on every aspect of this. Even stuff like the logo design and weird tidbits like figuring out how the heck I get the typical image gallery put into the game!
It's all a bit ramshackle, especially the coding bits as I am decided not someone who ever had to deal with anything coding wise. But so far it's all good.
So yeah! Naturally the next update will add the second day, probably not fully, but however much of it i'll manage to do before the release. Ideally of course that'd be all of it, but that might be a tough ask.
Also just a lot of planning happened behind the scenes. Ya know, this started as just a bit of a laugh, some project to try something new after struggling a bit with a light burnout and it just developed into something really fun.
Now I'm sat here, and all of a sudden the bit of a laugh becomes a project that I want to at least try and do justice by. So now I had to have an actual plan for the characters. And wanted them to actually be good. Outrageous stuff, I know!
Maybe now I'll end up trying to hard? Idk, I hope not, but I hope that there will be something worthwhile there for those of you who are keeping track of this project.
Speaking of characters then. Art! We'll be getting art! Not all of it, mind, but attached to this post is the final version of the Samuel in-conversation artwork. Along with Samuel are coming 9 expressions as well.
And we're not stopping there! (Well, hopefully.) Samuel actually was the second character I finished. Rajeeyah came first, however I wasn't very happy with her design after having finished her final version, so she is currently undergoing a redesign... Bit annoying as it of course costs time, but what can you do. She should also be done in time, if unfortunately without expressions just yet.
And as if that wasn't enough art, we've also got our first fully fledged full-screen scene in there. And it'll be one that let's me finally take off the warning that there isn't anything adult in here yet. And this is of course the reason why I had to figure out how galleries work and how to put them in.
Timeline for release version 2 then? No exact dates yet, but 5$+ Patreon subs will get the version ideally on the 1st of april. And a month later the public release will follow. So fingers crossed for that.
So, that's where we stand currently. I hope this sounds exciting to you, because I've had an absolute blast working on it. So I'd love if you all enjoy playing it as much as I did making it. A tall ask perhaps, with how many incredible VNs there are and how tough those comparisons will inevitably be, but all I can do is try my best with it after all.
